Welcome to Jennifer Serravallo's 2019 Summer Reading Camp! Summer Reading Camp is an opportunity to try out some of the reading strategies from The Reading Strategies Book and experience first-hand how the strategies work in conjunction with Understanding Texts and Readers.

Monday

Today's lesson is about monitoring our engagement and reflecting on how we get our best reading done, a variation of strategy 2.1 from The Reading Strategies Book.

Tuesday

Today's focus is on understanding the setting. We explore how mood and impact character using strategy 5.28 from The Reading Strategies Book with a bit from strategy TI.27 from Complete Comprehension: Fiction. For more on setting, see also Understanding Texts & Readers.

Wednesday

Today's video is about character, and the ways that contradictions can help us develop a deeper sense of who the character is. Strategy 6.23 from The Reading Strategies Book. Thursday
