Heinemann Summer Sessions: Wrap-Up

The Heinemann Summer Sessions have ended, but don't let that stop you from revisiting nine weeks of great content! Each week throughout the summer, we featured an article, video clip, or new professional book chapter from the Heinemann Digital Library on the topic of student engagement. Today, we look back on the sessions.

Week 1: Engaging Every Learner

We look at a chapter of Patricia Vitale-Reilly's Engaging Every Learner: Classroom Principles, Strategies, and Tools.

Week 2: Accessible Mathematics

We look at a video clip from Steve Leinwand's "Making Math Far More Accessible To Our Students" Digital Campus course.

Week 3: Educator as a Design Thinker

We look at an article from Jackie Gerstein titled, "Educator as a Design Thinker" from the Heinemann Digital Library.

Week 4: Student Writing as Mentor Texts

We look at a chapter from Lisa Eickholdt's Learning from Classmates.

Week 5: Provide Choice to Build Engaged and Joyful Readers

We look at a chapter from Kari Yates's Simple Starts: Making the Move to a Reader-Centered Classroom.

Week 6: Reading Projects Reimagined

​We look at a video clip from Dan Feigelson's Reading Projects Reimagined.

Week 7: Graphic Novels in the Classroom

We look at the Digital Campus article, "Graphic Novels in the Classroom" by Gene Yang.

Week 8: The Unstoppable Writing Teacher

We look at a chapter from Colleen Cruz's The Unstoppable Writing Teacher.

Week 9: Teaching Reading in Small Groups

We look at a video from Jennifer Serravallo's online course for Teaching Reading in Small Groups.
