Carla España (@ProfesoraEspana) is a middle-grade language arts teacher, literacy consultant, researcher, author, and cofounder of the En Comunidad Collective. Her love of stories and teaching comes from her roots in Chile and has been nurtured by hundreds of teachers and students across schools in New York City and beyond. Her teaching, research, coaching, and writing live at the intersection of critical literacies, children's literature, and bilingual education. Dr. España is coauthor of En Comunidad: Lessons for Centering the Voices and Experiences of Bilingual Latinx Students with Dr. Luz Yadira Herrera.
Luz Yadira Herrera (@Dra_LuzYadira) is a teacher, researcher, author, and cofounder of the En Comunidad Collective. Dr. Herrera has more than sixteen years of experience in the education of emergent bilinguals in both mainstream and bilingual settings. Dr. Herrera's teaching and research are in culturally and linguistically sustaining pedagogy, translanguaging, critical pedagogies, and bilingual education policy. She is the coauthor of En Comunidad: Lessons for Centering the Voices and Experiences of Bilingual Latinx Students with Dr. Carla España.

Susan O'Connell (@SueOConnellMath) has decades of experience supporting teachers in making sense of mathematics and effectively shifting how they teach. As a former elementary teacher, reading specialist, and math coach, Sue knows what it's like in the classroom and her background is evident throughout her work as she unpacks best practices in a clear, practical, and upbeat way.
She is the lead author of Math by the Book and Math in Practice, both grade-by-grade K-5 professional learning resources, as well as a handful of other Heinemann professional books. She is a nationally known speaker and education consultant who directs Quality Teacher Development, an organization committed to providing outstanding math professional development for schools and districts across the country.
