Heinemann’s Second Annual Teacher Tour 2014 was a great success!
We were very excited to open our doors to over 52 educators from schools in CT, ME, MA, NH, RI and VT who traveled to our home office located in the picturesque town of Portsmouth, NH to experience a day in the life of Heinemann Publishing.
The educators were fully immersed and engaged in sessions with some of our well respected authors; Linda Rief presented on Quick Writes encouraging teachers they have something to say too, Sara Ahmed presented on Inquiry Circles and her new upcoming book with Smokey Daniels titled Upstanders, Meenoo Rami via video presented on her new book Thrive encouraging mentorship in the schools, and Kathy Collins presented on her experience in Reggio Emilia in Italy on the reflections and beliefs of over 68 educators who attended the event.
The educators also toured the office and were provided with details of what happens behind the scenes and adorned with “swag bags” to commemorate the day. Our hope is that the educators left with a renewed sense of enthusiasm and pride for the honorable, inspiring and challenging position they hold.
As quoted by one of our educators, “It’s great to be part of a day that is all about teachers teaching teachers” In closing we reflected on what it all leads back to here at Heinemann which is the legacy of Don Graves and teachers have a voice, everyone has “A Story to Tell”.
